Creative Curriculum for Preschool I, II, & Kinderprep

Bright Beginnings uses the Creative Curriculum® as its primary tool for preparing Preschoolers for Kindergarten and Beyond!

A Diverse Curriculum for Diverse Learning Styles

The Creative Curriculum® System for Preschool is based on 38 objectives which are organized into the four major interest areas, plus five additional areas of child development and learning (Literacy, Mathematics, Science & Technology, Social Studies, and The Arts).

The main components of the Creative Curriculum® System are:

  • Teaching guides – help teachers provide individualized instruction for each child.
  • Intentional Teaching Cards – playful and engaging activities to meet the unique needs of every learner.
  • Mighty Minutes – help teachers turn every minute of the day into learning opportunities for language, literacy, math, science, social studies, and physical skills during “in-between” times.
  • Teaching Strategies Children’s Book Collection – beloved classic tales, contemporary works by award-winning authors and illustrators, and original nonfiction titles for use during high-quality read-a-loud.
  • Book Discussion Cards – helps teachers make the most of repeated, interactive read-alouds with children.

At its core, the Creative Curriculum® philosophy is based on five fundamental beliefs that are strongly supported by theoretical and empirical research:

  • Constructive, purposeful play is the best vehicle for measuring learning
  • The development of social competence is a key focus of the preschool years
  • Relationships are the foundation for learning
  • Curriculum and assessment must be linked
  • Families are essential partners in children’s learning

The Creative Curriculum® promotes the use of interest areas as a way of providing experiences that promote the four major areas of child development and learning: Cognitive, Social-Emotional, Physical, and Language.

The idea behind the Creative Curriculum® is that young children learn best by doing. Learning is not just repeating what someone else says, it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn firsthand about the world we live in.

The most important goal of the Creative Curriculum® is to help children become enthusiastic learners.

Student Assessment

Bright Beginnings believes that one of the best ways we can help our students is by tracking their progress from birth to Kindergarten. The Creative Curriculum® Assessment tool, Teaching Strategies GOLD® simplifies the assessment process by measuring students against the same 38 research-based objectives that include predictors of school success.
